You are bidding on a LP vinyl record issued by FRUITS DE MER. This label specializes in cover versions of mainly psychdelic and progressive rock of the late '60s/early 1970's. Their records are highly sought by collectors due to the low number of copies they press (usually 300 to 500 of each title) and to the high quality they put into the artwork and manufacturing. The majority of their catalogue is on colored vinyl. Many of their releases include a "freebie" such as a sticker or poster.All photos in this listing are of the actual record and color of vinyl you will receive. Most records were played once carefully by me and recorded to CD. In some cases they may be unplayed but for consistency I am listing all as being in NEAR MINT condition.

MOST OF THE 45'S WERE PRESSED ON WHITE VINYL MAKING THIS THE ULTIMATE HARD TO GET COLLECTOR'S VERSION OF THIS RECORD.

ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING? Yes!...first and only... Comes in deluxe thick gatefold cover, with plain white die-cut paper inner sleeve, plus a fullsize insert with all the track/line-up details, within a stickered plastic outer bag. PLUS: each of the first few pressings came with model balsa-wood aeroplane, in kit form, in a coloured packet with "Roqueting Through Space" sticker attached. Nice! Only 500 of this set pressed...it completely sold out within a few days of release. And no surprise really. Why? you ask. Because it's friggin' monstrous! Another FdM item with not a single duff note on the entire thing. It's all genius! And when I say 'monstrous' and 'genius', I'm talking the INTENSE PSYCHEDELIC and HEAVY KRAUTROCK and SWIRLING SPACE-ROCK kind of genius the like of which you haven't heard on a new platter since you were crawling around in your stoner hippie folks' dirt floor tent at Glastonbury in 1972...i.e. it's in yer blood! You love this stuff...or you blimmin' well oughta! Where the hell else (this album is NOT available on CD) are you gonna find the Cranium Pie fellers monstering Brainticket's "Blacksand" - I dunno what you call it, but I call that 'heavy psych'. - Frobisher Neck's version of Neu!'s "Isi" is beautifully melodic Kraut-y keyboard/synth/mellotron wizardry. Brrr...SO good! - And don't get me started on Helicon's lengthy version of the Neu! classic "Hallogallo" - it's a stunner. I really can't go on coz I'm gonna start repeating the superlatives...suffice to say that very track is just PERFECT...all you really need to know is that at some stage you are gonna NEED this album...people will start talking about it and word will spread, exponentially, and it'll become bigger than it seems it oughta...coz it's a word-of-mouth grower...and the further you travel away from getting one, the more expensive it's gonna be. Oh...the 7". This is part of the package - two tracks that couldn't fit on the LP - it's on RED vinyl (most were issued on white), has it's own pic sleeve and features covers of two HAWKWIND tunes. One is called "Transdimensional Paradox" (being a mix of the Dave Brock songs "Transdimensional Man" & "Paradox") by Australian psych/prog legends (well..they will be one day) Alpha Omega, from Brisbane...the other is "Urban Guerilla" by Sendelica featuring Nik Turner (yes!). If you have the time, here's someone else's overview of this mighty platter - if you're wavering, make sure you read on: Following on from the first commercially available Fruits de Mer album, "A Phase We’re Going Through", the label has once again fulfilled its unwritten remit to provide some of the finest tunes of yesteryear, re-imagined and laced with a little of what you fancy from some of the most esoteric bands doing the rounds today. Through a fuzz of galactic debris, "Roqueting Through Space" soars across the celestial plains, harvesting tracks originally recorded by the likes of Neu!, Pink Floyd, Can and Brainticket. Liberties have been taken with the "traditional" definition of what constitutes space rock, with the inclusion of versions of The Tornados’ ‘Telstar’ and Julian Cope’s ‘I Come From Another Planet, Baby’. Neither artist immediately lends themselves to the image of excessively hairy, chemically enhanced voyagers, embarking on a psychedelic trip to the furthest reaches of their mind, but as the FdM press release says, "… it [space rock] means different things to different people – spacey, spaced-out, sci-fi, electronic rock … We decided to drop the pretence of defining the genre, and instead allowed our chosen bands to decide for themselves what ‘space rock’ meant …" The roster of bands involved in Roqueting Through Space features regular satellites of the Fruits de Mer home world, such as Vibravoid, Cranium Pie, The Luck of Eden Hall and Sendelica, as well as one or two recently discovered life forms, including Frobisher Neck, Vert:x and The Grand Astoria. Of course, there appears to be one glaring omission from this compilation, one that would see Fruits de Mer expelled from Space Academy forthwith, were it not remedied on the additional 7" vinyl that accompanies the 12", housed in that most sacred of vessels, by which so many prog albums of the 70s were borne, the gatefold sleeve. The solar anomaly to which I allude is, of course, the apparent absence of any songs by the psychedelic warlords and cosmic voyagers extraordinaire, Hawkwind. The 7" provides not just one, but three Hawkwind compositions, demonstrating the reverence with which the hairy, ever-changing unit are held in space rock circles. Alpha Omega knocks out a mash-up of ‘Transdimensional Man’ and ‘Paradox’ in fine style, while Sendelica tackle ‘Urban Guerilla’, roping in original Hawkwind member, Nik Turner, to inject his saxophone stylings into what is an astral cherry at the heart of the Roqueting Through Space macrocosm. ======================================================================== LP A side track 1 - Vibravoid - No Silver Bird (originally by Hooterville Trolley) A side track 2 - Vert:x - I Come From Another Planet, Baby (Julian Cope) A side track 3 - Helicon - Hallogallo (Neu!)
