Rosa Etkin was born in Warsaw.Exceptionally musically talented, she begann learing piano as a very young child.Not yet having ten years, she began studying at the Frederik Chopin Higher Music Academy in Warsaw, in Alexanders Michalowski's class. Stage perfomance in 1920, at the age of 16 she performed with the orchestra of the Warsaw Philharmonic; received the third award 1927 at the Chopin Competition. In May 1927 left for Berlin to continue her piano studies under Moritz Mayer-Mahr. Rosa Etkin hat a broad repertoire: Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms, also Ravel, Scriabine.  During the World War II she lived in Warsaw, forced to seek shelter among various Polish friends due to her Jewish origins. On 16 January 1945, she was discovered and murdered.

Tri-Ergon made the best electric recordings, very fine sound!

Grading:

1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used

1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new

2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks

2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes

3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible

3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible

4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible

5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.

Since 1966 I collected 78 rpm records, principally classical pianists. I was looking in many, many second-hand and charitiy-chops, collectors fair, fleamarkets and so on in France, Germany, Austria , Italy and of course in Switzerland. I had always a good contact with others collectors in Great Britain and in the States. Since 1970 I was for a long time member of the City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society, from 1985 member of the Schellack-Schallplatten-Sammler-Verein, Vienna and from 1990 until today member of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives IASA, section DE/CH. I’m not a « really » record collector, more an admirer of the pianists and a music lover.
