CAPTAIN PURPLE RIDES AGAIN / SUPER-FLI ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by ROUND TRIP TICKET produced by CAPTAIN PURPLE music written by CAPTAIN PURPLE and CHICO JONES. Original US pressing on the GM label (GM 153), from circa mid '70s. Messed up / stoned and oddball funk with killer beats and breaks on this underground fuzzy rock cum psychedelic soul double-sider. CAPTAIN PURPLE RIDES AGAIN is the freaky side with b-boy drums and bugged-out bassline throughout an off-kilter groove. Futuristic dub production to the intricate drum patterns on here. Think of a more groovy, acid burn take on the Sidney Owens & North South Connection - Sputnik tune. The tripped-out CAPTAIN PURPLE RIDES AGAIN was a recent Jazzman Gerald radio spin too ;) The SUPER-FLI side is also superb. Fabulously strung-out Detroit soul with heavy drums and Blaxploitation / ghetto funk attitude. Great for DJs. Seldom comes up for sale in nice condition like our copy ;) Rare 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in strong VG++ condition with some hairlines / faint paper scuffs from sleeve removal. Surface noises (mostly to intro of "Captain Purple.." side but due to the pressing quality of the actual vinyl, in general). Record housed in plain white card sleeve. Rare 45!!!
