Original tri-centre 45 on 1956 UK Brunswick label 05627 ...A hard-to-find and highly prized rockabilly 45 ....
ROY HALL ...(A) Diggin' The Boogie b/w (B) Three Alley Cats
Extract from the tribute to Roy Hall on www.rockabilly.nl - ...He opened a joint in Nashville ...In the summer of 1954 Elvis Presley came to Roy Hall's club looking for work. Roy recalled; "I fired him after just that one night. He weren't no damn good." Towards the end of that same year another young man came to the club looking for work. He was Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy kept him on for a few weeks. Roy hired Jerry for $15 a night. They did a lot of duets together. It was also in 1954 that Roy Hall and a black musician named Dave Williams took a trip to the Everglades that resulted in one of the classic rock 'n' roll songs ' Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On'....... His "Diggin' the Boogie" contained one of the toughest and most unrelenting rhythms that had ever been recorded in the South.
VINYL ... VG- ... Original tri-centre still completely intact, clean labels both sides, for the most part the A-side has its original shiney playing surface. It has a small area of visible surface marks (see pic 3 close-up) but only in this one area of the playing surface the rest is VG+. These marks are audible with each revolution but do diminish very slightly as the track progresses . It plays with no other deterioration in the sound reproduction, i.e. there is no distortion or groovewear and it plays without skips/jumps. This copy does not have hundreds of spidery hairline scratches all over it. B-side is very clean (VG+) and plays extremely well. Comes in an early Brunswick sleeve in VG condition.
The reserve price is just 10% of the current book price (2010 RCPG). Check it out.
