ROY ORBISON AUTOGRAPHED MONUMENT RECORD ALBUM JACKET - EARLY ORBISON # MLP-8023
This is an album cover that I obtained from a Disc Jockey in Kansas City, Missouri many years ago. Orbison was in town for a concert and stopped by the station to plug an on-air radio spot for the evening concert sometime in the 60's. He signed the back of the jacket at that time in what looks like black ink. There are two other signatures on the back but I can't make them out. Possibly some pickers he was with.
YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE JACKET ONLY!!! I had the record but cannot find it. The valuable part is the autograph anyway so bid accordingly!!!
CONDITION: The jacket shows some wear on the back with a bit of fading. Seams are completely intact. Color is excellent. The signature is bold, clear and easily readable.
This would be a great display item to frame with a photo of Roy. Roy is one of my favorites. He started out in Wink, Texas with a group dubbed The Wink Westerners, recorded on Sun, Monument and was a tremendous guitarist, singer and song writer. Probably one of the greatest dramatic ballad singers ever. Johnny Cash was a close friend of Roys and they were neighbors for a time. He was a positive influence on scores of musicians and a quiet, humble man.
Don't really want to let this go but it is time to thin the collection out.
