Description
This is the first UK mono 1965 ‘loudcut’ pressing of ‘RUBBER SOUL’ in VG/EX* (Very Good/Excellent) condition. At the time of its release, EMI were concerned that this pressing of was too loud and would make styluses jump, so they quickly produced a quieter pressing. Most fans prefer the ‘loudcut’ version, which won’t make your stylus jump. Matrices: XEX 579-1, XEX580-1. The stampers are 2 AL and GL. It comes with an ‘Emitex’ inner.
The record plays clearly, loudly and deeply in glorious mono, which is far superior to the stereo mix. The disc is graded as EX* standard, with barely any background sound on either side. The surfaces are clean and bright, save for a couple of hairline scratches across side 1 which are completely non-sounding during the music and in between tracks. There are no pops or sounding ticks. The disc has been played in its entirety and carefully assessed via headphones on a Rega RP1 deck.
The Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in VG* condition, with some creasing to the front, and a few light pen marks on the rear. The three rear ‘flipbacks’ are firm.
The proceeds of this auction, in their entirety, will be donated to Oxfam.
The record will be mailed in a heavy duty mailer.
