'A PROLOGUE TO A MAGIC WORLD'
UK ITALIAN 45 on CINEVOX RECORDS 7XCA 31592 from 1967
Floral psychedelic jackets and 'long' hair was in vogue in the hip and hippy
60's, and going to a club likely meant partaking of mind-expanding halicinations or music that emulated and played into the effects of same!
RUPERT'S PEOPLE made the kind of characteristic music 'people' wanted - but unfortunately the radio stations weren't quite hip enough to play it!
Especially with the demise of Radio Caroline, the new scene was to be at the behest of what the BBC wanted it to be - and the leaders were who they decided upon. A travesty really, but there were revolutions to be had occasionally - and in the drug-induced imaginations there were outbreaks! The Small Faces, The Herd, Move, Pink Floyd, Jason Crest, and Attack were central to a burgeoning kaleidoscope of sound that appealed to the musically-awakened youth. Procol Harum blew every mind with 'Whiter Shade Of Pale', and that influenced this band enough for them to follow suit!
What came next was the wonderful 'Reflections Of Charles Brown', which even referenced their obscure previous recording under the band-name Sweet Feeling. 'A Prologue To A Magic World' is in similar style, and obviously the writing of Lewis Carol is influential with this one!
There's said to be a strong connection with The Fleur De Lys too, who re-recorded the
brilliant Rupert's People track 'Hold On' with Sharon Tandy. I'm not sure what the connections are, there - but it seems very likely.
So, a nice collectible record.... but made more special by the great picture cover here!!
Both the vinyl and the sleeve have been well cared for and stored, and are in TOP SHAPE!
CONDITION;
The COVER grades FANTASTIC NEAR MINT. NO ringwear rubbing, LOVELY colours, flat and with NO splits!
The VINYL grades MINT, it looks and plays WONDERFULLY!
The black and silver lables are top NM.
A really STUNNING copy!!
