In 1977, Canadian progressive hard rockers Rush released their fourth studio album. They titled it 'A Farewell to Kings', and it was the follow-up to '2112'. (The live album 'All the World's a Stage' was released in between.) The band became very comfortable with the type of music that they were creating, so they made a great album that has both shorter radio friendly songs, as well as longer, more progressive science fiction tracks. And types kinds of songs are awesome!

They actually had their first big radio hit with the beautiful and uplifting "Closer to the Heart". They continued what they perfected on '2112', with the track "Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage", and that story even continues on the next album 'Hemispheres'. ("Book II: Hemisphere") The song "Cinderella Man" is also a great track!

In today's great deal, you'll receive TWO vinyl versions of that vintage Rush masterpiece, with both a first press gatefold LP, plus a Japanese promo picture disc LP! First, the original vinyl. The first pressing copies came in a sweet gatefold, and the lyrics, song titles, and credits are all printed on the inside. Plus a very cool pic of Geddy, Neil, and Alex! The inner sleeve is the 'Starman' from '2112' on one side, with another pic of the band on the other side.

Several years ago, a Japanese import picture disc LP was released on 180 gram vinyl. It also came with a obi type discography card. These were made in EXTREMELY limited quantities, rumored to be only ONE HUNDRED copies! It could be a little more, or a little less. No one knows for sure! And Rush has MILLIONS of fans all over the world, so you can do the math...It's the artwork from the album's cover on the A side, and the B side is the back cover of the album. There's only a precious few of these floating around the world...

The asking price is high. I understand that. I'm actually not making any money, I promise you. And this listing could be taken down, at any time. eBay can be really weird when it comes to items like this, so if you're interested, don't wait too long, or it could be gone.

I'll throw in that copy of the first press vinyl, which is showing it's age somewhat. The vinyl itself doesn't look too bad, but it has a few light surface marks on it. The gatefold has some wear on it, but still holding up. The inner sleeve has some splits, but nothing a little super glue couldn't fix (I'll leave that up to the buyer.) There's also substantial shelf-wear on the corners and spine. But it's all good, since it's the first pressing, from 1977! (Turning FIFTY in 3 years!)

The pic disc is immaculate. I never played it, and the vinyl itself is still shiny and clean. The card also looks new. I'll insure this item for the sale price, just in case anything happens in transit. This is not an impulse buy, it's an investment! Only a few of these were made for promotional purposes, so that just makes them more valuable. I even had someone tell me once that this didn't even exist! It does, and it can be yours, today. And again, don't wait TOO long!

(RIP Professor. You were one of rock's legendary drummers, and one of the best lyricists that ever wrote songs. You are truly missed!)
