Description
Canadian progressive hard rockers Rush released their third studio album in 1975. It was their second release in '75, as bands did that frequently in those days. They timed it with an album early on in the year, then another towards the end of the year. This third record is titled 'Caress of Steel', and features three short and almost radio friendly songs, and two long songs! (The first long track is split into three parts, and is titled "The Necromancer". The B side of the record is one song, nearly TWENTY minutes long, split into six parts, and is called "The Fountain of Lamneth".)
Two of the shorter tracks, "Lakeside Park" and "Bastille Day", got a lot of rock radio airplay. The cover's artwork is a bit strange, and it came out in gold lettering that was actually supposed to be silver, to resemble steel. (Someone screwed up!) This is probably the Rush album that sold the least, at least in the early days, and had Mercury really worried. They were probably due to be dropped by the label, but the band released the masterpiece '2112' in 1976, and solidified their place in rock and roll history!
In 2016, a rare and scarce 12" picture disc of that third album 'Caress of Steel' was released. Probably made in Germany. Rumored to be only 3600 made. With millions of Rush fans all over the world, well, you can do the math! These are great, and is a thick and heavy 180 gram vinyl. This copy looks fantastic, and is shiny and clean. It will come in a clear generic PVC jacket. A really cool Rush collectible, ready to come home and be added to that always growing Rush collection!
