I’d like to thank my partner in crime Sound (formerly known as poo) for breathing all of this to life and keeping it awesome. I’ve been preoccupied lately but expect to see some old Soundfarmer favourites, as well as plenty of new music I’ve found over the past couple of months.

But for now, I’d like to share with you Russian Circles’ newest LP. This is my personal favourite of their releases, and the band is my personal favourite of the post-metal genre. It doesn’t take a second listen to learn that their specialty is atmosphere. There is no showing of technical wankery, not for Russian Circles.. The goal here is to communicate a texture or a state of mind, a sound that can soothe and groove just as well as it can crush your bones with the aggression and the largeness that the music carries. Mixed beautifully, constructed beautifully, this whole goddamn album is just beautiful. Hate to suck an album’s dick but, this will be my first post and I might as well make it a good one as Geneva never fails to impress me.

So definitely check this one out.
