Ruth Brown (1928-2006) was an American pop and R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, composer and actress, also known as the "Queen of R&B", and noted for bringing a pop music style to R&B music in a series of hit songs for Atlantic Records in the 1950's, such as "So Long", "Teardrops from my Eyes", and "(Mama) He Treats Your Daughter Mean". When she was first signed, her repertoire was mostly popular ballads, but Atlantic Records president Ahmet Ertegun convinced her to switch to rhythm and blues. For a time, because of her many hits, Atlantic became known as "The house that Ruth built".
The jacket is gorgeous, with some moderate rubbing at spine extremities, minor rubbing to right-hand corners, clean spine and edges; back cover has a name in ink, some minor scuffing and a few minimal spots. The vinyl has some scuffing - side A has some moderate scuffing and two light scratches, but side B has some heavier scuffing and and several moderate scratches; it plays all the way through on my turntable, with the more rockin' side A sounding pretty great, and side B (with more traditional/softer songs) sounding rougher but still playing through; labels have spindle marks and rubbing. Condition is Very Good+ / Good.
