Description
This is the Classic Records 180g reissue from the 1990s of RCA LSC 2430 which features Artur Rubinstein on piano and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Fritz Reiner performing these pieces:
- Rachmaninov: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
- De Falla: Nights in the Gardens of Spain
Please see the photo of the back cover for more information about the recording. This copy is the US pressing with the dog logo on the record label. I've owned this record from new and played it in the past but it hasn't been played at all in the last 15 years. The sleeve looks like new apart from a small patch of wear on the centre of the bottom edge, visible in the photos. The record itself looks pristine - no scratches, fingerprints or other surface marks.
Grade (sleeve first), using the record collector grading scheme (reproduced below): EX/EX+
Please read these grading notes before bidding / buying:
- All grades are visual only. Since this is inevitably subjective I try to err on the side of caution and grade conservatively. The highest grade I will give to a record that has been played is EX+.
- Most records have some surface noise and in my experience this is the case even with brand new 'audiophile' pressings played for the first time. Surface noise is usually more noticeable on classical records which often have long quiet passages where the signal-to-noise ratio is lower. I have bought many such records and found that almost all have some background ticks and crackles - you just have to accept that this is part of the vinyl listening experience, especially with classical music. Please take this into account before bidding/buying.

Record Collector grading scheme:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
