Description

My absolute favorite country oldies radio show of all time is      Solid Gold Country.    Very similar to its cousin on United Stations, Solid Gold Scrapbook, the show aired daily with a different feature every day on a day in history, artist salute, or event salute.  It was extremely popular as a show, much like Solid Gold Scrapbook and aired on stations affiliated with the United Stations Radio Network.  I am not sure that this show made it into CD production.  I have only seen the show on lp's and then very rarely.  It shows up much less frequently than does Solid Gold Scrapbook.  And, when it does, the prices seem to be very high.  Check them out when you see some of them.  As always, I sell shows at reasonable prices, usually for about what I paid for them, and you will always get a good deal.  I have seen these shows start at 25 - 30 dollars which may be ok for that very special show you have been looking for, but not for the average show.  Check out all my listings and see how reasonable the prices are.  That is part of why I have a 100% feedback.  The other reason is that I stand behind what I sell unconditionally.  Any problem and I fix it instantly.  No haggeling or excuses.  I fix it.   Now down to business.  The show is in mint new condition looking like it was never played before which may be the case.  Radio stations often did not play the shows for a given date for various reasons; however, assuming it was played, it was probably that one air date over 23 years ago.  The vinyl looks like it just came from the press!  The cue sheet is also in new conditon which leads me to believe that perhaps this was never played in that most cue sheets have board operator marks on them marking the segments as they air.  These cue sheets have nothing on them.  The label is quite attractive and  contains the Solid Gold Country logo across the top and the United Stations information across the bottom.  Above the distributor information is tha air date.      This show aired on May 15, 1989 and is titled  "ELVIS PRESLEY:  THE DAVID BRIGGS SESSIONS".  It features 14 songs featuring some of the best Elvis songs ever recorded.   These songs feature musician David Briggs, noted keyboardist who met Elvis in 1965 with Floyd Cramer on the How Great Thou Art sessions and continued with him until around the time of his death in 1977.  In addition, for Elvis collectors, this is a a rariety you probably don't have in your collection!  Radio shows featuring Elvis go for a steep price but I am offering it to you for a reasonable price so you can have it!  There are FOUR interview segments with               David Briggs on his experiences performing with Elvis, rare interviews that are a must for your collection.     Here are the songs you will hear and have to enjoy along with all the information and features of this great series.        Help Me,           My Boy,            Love Letters,           Promised Land,              Crackers (Barbara Mandrell),              No Gettin Over Me (Ronnie Milsap),               Coward of the Country (Kenny Rogers),                  Hurt,              There's a Honky Tonk Angel Who Will Take Me Back In,             It's Midnight,             Moody Blue,             She Thinks I Still Care,             Way Down,           and         Lovin Arms.                                        WOW!!!!!!          It is a great variety of music along with interviews, commentary and fun facts not only about music but the times in which the music was popular.  Each show was like a history lesson of music and the times.    How can you beat that!!!!!!   You will super great tunes and the best part is that you can hear them again and again, over and over,  whenever you want.  "Over and over and over and over again", to quote a famous lyric!   It is the best format for a country oldies show ever made.     You will just not hear most of these songs on any other show.  All the  artists featured in this series helped define country music through their work  You will hear not only great tunes. but also interviews and stories about the artists  and their music that you have never heard before.  Great tunes will all come your way in this great one hour show with the unique themes that made the show the most popular country oldies show ever to be on syndication.  The soundtrack of our lives were shaped by this music and  you will reminisce thinking of those people, events and where you were in your life.  This is all featured on this great hour of  music, commentary, stories and interviews.     The theme on this show and all the themes in this great series were amazingly well done and have never been equaled.      Please note that you will see these shows bunched in weekly groups and sold that way.  However, in that case you have to buy all five shows that aired that week just to get the one you want.  For almost 10 years I have sold them individually to collectors so that they can get the music they want and only the music they want.  In fact, any of you who had to buy the weekly box to get the show you wanted, I will buy the unwanted shows from you for the prorated price per show and make them available to other collectors who might want them.  There is nothing worse than a record you don't need or want.  When you buy only the show you want, you and I are both happy!             Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs.  it is a piece of radio history and Americana.  You just aren't going to find these shows anymore.  Think of what they will be worth in a few years!  (IF you wanted to sell.)  I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price; in fact, believe it or not, I paid a lot more than you will because I tried to get the entire collection of this syndicated show.  I almost made it but then the sources dried up.  The dj from whom I bought the ones I had left the station,  and subsequent ones I bought were hit or miss in terms of what I had or did not have.  I finally gave up.  I am saving those shows I treasure the most and sharing the rest with you for very reasonable prices.  Those I do not sell, I will just keep!  Most people even enjoy the national commercials that are included on the show because some 15-20 years later they sound good!                                       Included  on this show   are       Redeway Inn,       Nestles Nestea,         Ruffles Chips,           Volkswagen,                       and more.  You can see by these commercials that the show attracted a great demographic as all these commercials are for fun products.      Some people buy the shows for the commercials  they collect!     Either way, it is a great show and would be a valuable addition to your collection.  As always, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy for U.S. buyers and discount the shipping for my international friends,  so the more you buy the more money you will save.  Good Luck and God Bless You.
