Description
When XL gained the rights to Radiohead's catalogue in 2016, they began shipping leftover Capitol jackets with unused Parlophone records inside.
People who purchased Radiohead records at that time received a very unusual surprise. First they were bummed to see the Capitol logo on the outside (because Capitol pressings were subpar) and then they were ecstatic to see Parlophone records inside (because Parlophone pressings are vastly superior to the Capitol pressings).
Well, as XL ran out of Capitol jackets for Hail To The Thief, they printed XL jackets and stuffed the remaining Parlophone records inside the new XL jackets. Eventually all the Parlophone records were out of print and XL began pressing their own records.
Parlophone pressings are the gold standard for Radiohead records and original pressings will set you back hundred(s) of dollars.
This auction is for one of the rare copies of an XL jacket with Parlophone records inside. Everything is in NM condition.
Back cover has XL logo printed under the barcode. Reads 'Printed in NA' underneath the barcode but discs are Parlophone 'Made in EU' as seen in the pictures.
Purchased in 2016 from Zia Records in Phoenix, AZ at the tail end of the 'Capitol jackets/Parlophone discs' run.
Includes protective outer sleeve with the 'Radiohead Hail To The Thief' sticker affixed to the sleeve as it was on the original shrink wrap.
Also, the records themselves are in protective poly sleeves.
Will be shipped safe and sound in a proper LP mailer.
