Rainbow (Deep Purple). Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll. US white label promo copy vinyl album.

Purchased pre loved back in the late 80’s in the US, though no record of audio playback at the time, due to visible marks on side two (see photos), i.e a light white surface mark across Sensitive to Light and into Rainbow Eyes as well as an arc shaped surface scratch mark across the whole side. I therefore tracked down a mate with a vinyl deck and played side two which was noted as follows:

White mark – not audible.

Scratch – just a few clicks. So more surface and visual rather than deep and constant.

These visual/audio issues are reflected in the lower starting bid.

Laminated gatefold sleeve with matt ‘parchment’ finish.

Corners nice and sharp. Couple of light foxing marks on front sleeve to the right of Bob Daisley’s head.

Bottom edge a small light ‘white’ scuff.

Original hype sticker all good.

Rear. Gold foil block promo stamp. Light ring wear surface mark (smudge/scuff) at top, otherwise all good. No splits or tears.

Double sided printed lyric record bag, overall in good shape, though has suffered from edge disc wear to one side and the bottom edge…still intact though.

Disc:

Side one: glossy with few light sub surface hairlines.

Side two: Generally glossy with few light sub surface hairlines. Main visual issues are light white surface mark and light scratch as detailed above.

Selling on behalf of my Dad (who supplied all the info) from his personal collection, from the olden days when he collected vinyl.

I aim to use recycled packaging when appropriate.

However, all vinyl is despatched using top quality Defendapack QP2 Quick Pack Multi Music Max mailers with additional stiffening inserts. So You can rest assured that your vinyl will be well packed and protected against the trials of postal travel!

A few words about the vinyl grading.

I try to be as honest as possible, but all grades are based upon an experienced but ultimately subjective visual inspection, trying to identify and highlight obvious issues.

Back in the day whilst my Dad purchased much of the vinyl new, as he expanded his collection, (eventually running into a few thousand discs) hence many only played once, inevitably he was drawn to second hand (pre-loved) copies of certain discs, including the rarer original 1970’s issue boots.

As you will appreciate, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this or looking at the listing, the nature of many of these live/unofficial recordings meant that original production standards were not necessarily a top priority, with occasional mastering/pressing faults occurring.

Similarly with any second hand vinyl which in some cases is almost 50 years old they will potentially exhibit aural signs of having been played, sometimes a fair bit..these are not mint, new unplayed discs (unless stated).

The attraction for my Dad was either obtaining the different variations of an issue or otherwise unavailable rare recordings…its called collecting!

When playing vinyl my Dad had a Technics SL1800 turntable with Ortfon cartridge, so no thrashing and grinding on an old  fidelity UA4! (early 70’s starter bedroom lo-fi, crank it up 😊).

Orders from EU countries

You will be liable for import VAT at the time of delivery via the postal/courier service in your country. The amount of the VAT payable will depend on how the items are classed for VAT in your country. 

The exact implementation of this is likely to vary across different postal services, and there may be some grace period for orders from the UK over the initial weeks and months in some countries, especially for items in transit on 1st January 2021.

Didn't the UK and EU sign a free-trade deal?

Yes, but the UK-EU Free Trade deal agreed on December 24th 2020 means that duties will not be payable on the vast majority of goods moving between the UK and EU. However, duties and VAT are different things, and this does not impact on the VAT measures detailed above.
