This set was recorded live at the Palladium, NYC on January 7th, 1978, exactly seven days after the 1977-78 New Years' Eve show in London that later became the Ramones' other seminal live release, It's Alive. In my opinion the Palladium show is the better album mainly because Johnny’s guitar is louder and more powerful in the mix. In fact the Ramones and Johnny in particular are in blistering top form. Johnny even manages a few short lead licks in places. This is great punk stuff, essential listening for all fans of the Strokes, The Libertines, Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop And The Stooges, Suicide, Oasis, Johnny Thunders, Pussy Galore, Guns n Roses, Sex Pistols, Warlocks, Cramps, Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, Nuggets, Patti Smith, Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Seeds, Garage Psych, Dead Boys, Spacemen 3, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, New York Dolls, Hives, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Velvet Underground, MC5, Jet, Datsuns, Green Day, D4, Saints, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Primal Scream, White Stripes, etc.
