This has been professionally framed to a very high standard, double mounted die cut white mounts and an aluminium frame. The poster is not stuck down or backed.
The Ramones' first poster is a blow up of a photograph Arturo Vega took of himself in a photo-booth in 1974 on 42nd Street for 25 cents. He's wearing the iconic eagle belt which would later become the Ramones' logo. Based off the United States’ seal, Vega replaced ‘e pluribus unum’ with ‘Hey Ho Let’s Go,’ adding a baseball bat for their beloved Yankees instead of an arrow. This poster was printed for the summer of 1975’s CBGB’s “Unsigned Band Festival” including other bands such as The Talking Heads and Blondie.
Arturo Vega (B.1948, Chihuahua, Mexico) is a contemporary artist known for his notorious affiliation with punk rock band the Ramones. Vega acted as photographer and creative director for the band, most well known for creating the band’s legendary eagle logo. Vega was involved in many aspects of the Ramones productions from working the lighting and scenery to silk-screening and selling t-shirts at shows. Amazingly, Vega was present for all but two of the Ramones’ 2263 live shows. An artist in his own right, he is known for his photography, silk-screen prints, and painting. Vega has exhibited at various shows internationally including 2011’s group show ‘CURE-ATED’ (The Swervewolf Experience and ARTKILLNYC, New York, NY) and 2005’s group show “HUNG” (CBBG 313 Gallery, New York, NY), among others.
"Arturo Vega: In 1975, I designed my first Ramones-poster. It was for CBGB festival: There were 40 bands playing in the weekend, Talking Heads etc. I took a photo of myself with this eagle bat belt which is on the first Ramones album's back cover, that's me. I took this photograph with an automatic photomachine. It cost 25 cents - you know, one of those machines where you just put a coin in and it takes a picture of you. That's how I took the photograph. I used this photo for the Village Voice too"
