This beautiful LP – a superb collector’s copy – from Telefunken (LT 6544, German Teldec · Telefunken-Decca pressing, black/gold label – ED1, mono, laminated top-opening jacket) features a license from the French Ducretet Thomson catalog of Jean-Pierre Rampal’s extraordinary traversal of Bach’s Three Sonatas for Flute and Basso Continuo BWV 1033-1035, as well as of the same composer’s Sonata for Flute and Harpsichord BWV 1020.
In BWV 1033-1035 Rampal is joined by Jean Huchot on basso continuo, while in BWV 1020 he is partnered by Robert Veyron-Lacroix on harpsichord. All four works were recorded in Paris in February and April 1954.

Though Rampal would re-make these works in stereo (for Erato and Sony Classical), these earlier readings find him on more animated and communicative form – landmarks in the Bach discography.
There are informative liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, provided in German only. The striking cover design is similarly uncredited.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is light shelfwear and minor creasing, but really this is a lovely copy, particularly for one that is now nearly 60 years old. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. There is a hairline scrach on one side about 1” in length, though it only sounds (quietly) for a few revolutions. Otherwise, though surfaces are not perfectly silent this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
