Randy Newman's considerable musical talents and wit visit The South in this 1974 quadriphonic album.  He was prescient with the chorus to "Louisiana 1927," to wit "They're tryin' to wash us away."   Mr. Newman, vocals and keyboards, was backed by the likes of Milt Holland drums and percussion; Ry Cooder, electric guitar; Al Perkins, pedal steel; and Red Callender, bass.  Bernie Leadon, Glen Frey and Don Henley provided background vocals.
