Description
I seldom use the word "Rare" in my listings, but I think that this one
qualifies.
Accompanied by a piano, Collins & Harlan sing "Jerry Murphy Is A
Friend Of Mine" on single-sided 78rpm 12" Victor Deluxe 31128.
I can't find a whole lot of information on this single-sided disc, except
DAHR indicates that it was recorded probably in 1902-3, which makes
sense. It was initially listed in an April 1904 Victor catalog, but by
November, it was deleted. There is a number (C241) in the runoff, but
it is nothing that I can match up with.
The Fagan & Moran books show a 7" and a 10" rendition that C & H
recorded on February 12, 1903, but nothing about this 12".
The first 1" plays very scratchy, but smooths out dramatically
thereafter to play about E- to V+.
