Koula Antonopoulos (known on her recordings as Kyria Koula, ?? ????? or "Mme" Madame Coula), is a legendary Greek folk singer who unlike her biggest rival at the time (the 1910s and 1920s) Marika Papagika is overlooked  these days. 
Collector David Soffa believes that Koula and Marika toured an existing circuit of cafés in the Eastern Mediterranean in the late Ottoman period – Pireaus, Athens, Smyrna, Constantinople, Cairo, Alexandria, before moving to the US.
In the USA she became the first internationally successful Greek female vocalist who made North America her permanent home. Recording there between 1916-17 and 1927 at least 199 individual songs. 
Madame Koula and her compania recorded songs of virtually every traditional and popular Greek genre.
Madame Koula is also the first Greek immigrant musician to own and perform on her own record company label, the Panhellenion Record Company of New York. Established sometime after World War I, Panhellenion was itself the first independent record label in North America to exclusively issue traditional Greek and Turkish music.
In spite of her popularity, 78s like this one from the late 20s are very rare.
