DESCRIPTION OF ITEMS >>> This is Decca album No. 74. The Wizard Of Oz on four 10-inch records includes the musical score from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture triumph. Lyrics by E.Y. Harburg, music by Harold Arlen. Vocals under the direction of Ken Darby. Record set includes Victor Young and his Orchestra with Judy Garland singing the famous "Over The Rainbow". Please see list below for all the recordings in this 4 record set. The inside of both the front and back covers has pictures and text, which along with the musical score give you the complete story of "The Wizard Of Oz". CONDITION OF ITEMS >>> The overall condition of all the records is excellent for their age, although as you can see in the pictures above there are a few noticeable scattered smudges, scratches, spots and/or stains. The record labels are in excellent condition for their age with only a few signs of some light wear due to aging. I'm afraid the good news ends there. I have not had too many other record sets with this type damage. Having said that, please note that while almost every separate piece that makes up this record set is no longer glued, all the pieces are still with the set. If you enjoy restoring vintage record sets like these, you will probably enjoy restoring this one. I think that is a better idea than having me try to restore it and not do it correctly. As you can see in the pictures above even the paper on the inside of the front cover is not glued to the cardboard. The paper on the back cover is still glued to the cardboard, but it is "hanging on by a thread" as they say. Please also note that there are a few small areas with "flea bites". I have tried to show the area with the worst "flea bites" in close-up pictures. The black binding is a completely separate piece and is no longer glued to anything. The front and back cardboard record covers both also have the expected wear that is due to the normal process of aging, use, storage and the movement of the set from place to place. The 4 separate record sleeves inside the cardboard cover are all still in good condition except for the fact that they are also starting to become unglued . I also need to mention that the glued flat that comes over the bottom of the sleeves and is glued to the side of the record sleeves is only still glued on the first record sleeve and this may soon become unglued as well. The others are all unglued. I am honestly afraid to open the record album set because something else will probably become unglued. I strongly suggest that when you get the record set in your hands you handle it with extreme care. The little booklet has some minor discoloration and the expected wear that paper shows due to aging. There is no unwanted writing anywhere. Please note, and I can't stress this point enough, that the record set has a really sharp musty odor due to it being stored in a basement for such a long period of time. It is mostly noticeable when the set is opened. If there is anything I have missed, or if I haven't answered your particular question or questions please feel free to e-mail me. These records are very old and should be treated gently and with great care so that they do not break. I pack all my items safely and securely but please understand that once the package is out of my hands I have no control over its safety. I feel I should not be held responsible for a package that is beyond my control. The insurance will help you get the value back for your item. The post office will not reimburse you for damage unless they see the package as it was just after you discovered the potential damage.
