Description
The Augmented Eight – The Gentle Art of Chordsmanship (MP-5001)– A very scarce and original 1955 title from McIntosh Music’s short-lived audiophile label, which was run by Frank McIntosh himself. Jacket is a beautiful tip-on-front style with unique artwork by Ardyth Trimmer. The rear text boasts technical recording specs including condenser mics and even recommends various pieces of McIntosh gear for playback like the MC-30, MC-60, 50 W-2, C-8, and C-4. In 30 years of collecting vinyl, this is the first McIntosh Music title I have found in the wild. Grading listed below. I don’t think you’ll find a nicer copy of this title.
Vinyl Condition (visual): Excellent (EX): Clean and glossy. Some faint wispy pressing marks in the runout of Side 1. Side 2's label has air bubbles under label and likely came from the pressing plant like that.
Play notes (AT-ART9XI Cartridge used): Soft background surface noise present - common to this era.
Jacket/Sleeve Condition: Excellent (EX). Clean and crisp with pristine spine. Some tiny initials penned on lower right corner of rear jacket. Comes shipped in archival outer and inner sleeves.
