Description

Up for auction is the super rare Soul Funk self-titled original LP by "Alice Clark" released on Mainstream Records #MRL 362 in 1972. This is the FIRST US press white label promo and not a later reissue.Visually graded using Goldmine standards, the vinyl rates a VG+/EX with beautiful shine and some light surface wear. The gatefold jacket rates a VG+ with light ring wear, light edge wear and a 3" split on the bottom part of the gatefold jacket near the opening. This is a very nice solid copy of this rare sought after record. DO NOT MISS OUT! Low starting bid and no reserve! Will be shipped in a sturdy record mailer within a protective plastic sleeve with the record outside of the jacket to prevent splits. Please see my other auctions for more rare vinyl.
The legendary album on Mainstream from 1972 by Alice Clark. "Never Did I Stop Loving You" and "Don't You Care" are massive LP-only modern soul / northern soul / funk scene spins, but there are lots of other great uptempo and ballad tunes on this LP as well. This album was produced and arranged by Bob Shad (also responsible for Sugar Billy's "Super Duper Love", as covered by Joss Stone).
