"The band was the original Thunderpussy. We recorded and pressed Documents of Captivity  nearly 40 years ago in 1973 with 1,000 vinyl record copies. Most of the records were given away and a few were sold for $1 to $2 which the band collected at performances. It was a financial disaster for the band, which funded the recording and pressing. The band dissolved a year later and for years the recording went unknown. In the 1980’s it was brought to my attention that the original albums had become a worldwide audiophile cult phenomenon. Collectors from Japan to Cleveland were paying several hundred dollars for a copy. That created a demand so that it was duplicated by an unknown and unauthorized company in Europe named Breeder which copied from a record album. Those unauthorized and low quality records sell today for more that $40....."

Vinyl: VG+ ~ Has 3 linear, light surface scratches, but nothing that can be detected by rubbing the finger or fingernail across...Has been played a few times but fairly well taken care of.

Cover: VG+ ~ Has ring wear. No seam splits.

GOLDMINE RECORD GRADING SYSTEM

Mint (M): Absolutely perfect in every way - certainly never played, possibly even still sealed. We will rarely, if ever, use this grading unless we can guarantee that a record has not been re-sealed by someone other than the manufacturer. With Still Sealed (SS) records, let the buyer beware, unless it’s a U.S. pressing from the last 15-20 years. European imports are not factory-sealed, so if you see them advertised as sealed, someone other than the manufacturer sealed them.

Near Mint (NM or M-): A nearly perfect record. Record shows no obvious signs of wear. 45 RPM or EP sleeves should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. An LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes either. Same should be true for any inserts.

Very Good Plus (VG+) or Excellent: Record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, or slight seam splits. LP jackets may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole.

Very Good (VG): Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing but will not overpower the music. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing or have tape or stickers (or their residues) attached. The same will be true for picture sleeves or LP covers

Good (G), Good Plus (G+): Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seam splits. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

Poor (P), Fair (F): The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP jacket barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled and written upon.
