Rare vintage 78 rpm 10" record set: OREGON SHIPBUILDING CORPORATION - SINGING SENTINELS - CHRISTMAS SONGS - includes 3 records (one record is missing), numbers 500, 502 and 503. Circa WWII / early 1940's. The Sentinels were a male vocal quartet who were guards at the shipyards, and included Chuck Faris, Ken Rogers, Herman Klick and Del von Zeuthen; when Edgar F. Kaiser heard them sing, he had them perform at the many ship launchings there. The album cover (front and back) has a collage of b&w photos showing the group, the Kaiser shipyards and US Navy ships. Songs include Jingle Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, While Shepherds Watched Their Flock/It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. Tannenbaum/Deck the Hall/Up On the House Tops, We Three Kings of the Orient Are, and Adeste Fidelis/Away in the Manger. Extremely rare - they have a set of 4 records on the Sonora label that comes up in searches, but this privately-produced set of Christmas songs is nearly impossible to find - I can't find any others online to compare it to.

Condition is EX/VG (the records are still glossy and very clean and appear unplayed, except for disc 503 which has a 1/2-inch scratch that I can feel on the Tannenbaum side and 1-inch scratch I feel on the Shepherds side; all three have a light 3-inch-long by 1/2-inch deep spot along the edge that may be a water spot - it just won't quite rub away but is nothing that would affect play; the album has some moderate edge and corner rubbing, small edge tear, some soil to back cover margin and corner, and minor spine rubbing - but overall is still very presentable).
