Rare 78rpm - Collection of 9 early Vatican recordings, recorded circa 1903 - 1904 Includes recordings by Professor Moreschi of The Sistine Chapel - The last Castrato and the only one to make recordings. (Castration was forbidden in 1870, and by the time these recordings were made, Moreschi was the last one alive to record.) Other records of Gregorian Chants by The Augustinian Fathers, etc. Records by Sistine Chapel Choir - Chants These rare recordings were recorded circa 1903 - 1904 in the Vatican, Rome. All are master pressings from G&T masters Original U.S. issues appeared in Victor's 61000 series These white label shellac pressings were made by Special Order circa 1923 from original masters... 100 years ago - these Special white label pressings are in amazingly fine condition, most looking like they've never been played !! Again, the white label Special Pressings are all in very fine condition, with most appearing as if they've never been played. - I acquired this group collection years ago, and have kept them intact and un-played on my shelves, respecting their condition - For anyone who collects this type of record/music, it is doubtful that such a group, in such condition, will appear again. The single black label included in the group is in approximately V+ condition... label somewhat faded, photographed better.
