Description
Lovely and very rare autograph from the legendary 19th century soprano - Adelina Patti. In her day the most highly paid singer and much beloved in South Wales where she lived (Craig -Y-Nos) until her death in 1919.
The autograph is dated 5 June 1875 and is noted as having been given in London. The autograph is in black ink on Patti's own headed note paper with her crest of a cornet above intertwined initials APC. The autograph is in her name as Adelina Patti (but no reference to Marquise de Caix -her married name at the time - probably as she was soon to divorce). Paper has been tidily trimmed to size of the autograph, but has been folded at sometime as can be seen.
The signature is still bold and clear but ink has faded slightly as can be seen in pictures, so very good.
Sold with a contemporary photo of Patti on a small carte de visite type photo about 3 inches in size. Also added is a late 19th century postcard in excellent condition.
Bought by me when I collected grand opera memorabilia and with intention to frame and display. Never managed this so time is now to sell and let another collector enjoy.
