Description
Here we have a mightily rare and beautiful “Anker” 78rpm record of Anton Hekking the celebrated cellist, recorded in Berlin in 1910.
It is a 10” Anker record, No. 9038-l/-ll.
He’s playing two pieces, “Melodie” by Massenet & an “Andante” by Tchaikovsky.
Those titles look a bit vague to me, but that’s what it says on the labels.
My limited knowledge of German also leads me to think that, according to the label copy, he is playing a very desirable old Cremona cello.
The record is in remarkably good clean condition and plays clear and loud,
The label picture appears to show a young Pete Doherty, in his vest, eating two Barratt’s Sherbert Fountains simultaneously.
It is remarkably rare.

I have described the item to the best of my ability, and everything looks in pretty good condition to me, but please check the photographs to decide for yourself.
I am not a dealer. I am just an old bloke thinning out his record collection before the floor collapses.
I’m probably selling most of these discs for less than they cost me!
I apologise for the postage costs. I pack 78s VERY carefully, in cardboard “sandwiches” surrounded by polystyrene peanuts etc. The resulting parcels, though very secure, are quite expensive to post.
