Description

This RCA radio / record player needs work!
The cabinet is walnut and it was built in Montreal, Canada in 1949 so it's officially 71 years old!
It is designed to play 45 RPM records only.
The only issues with the cabinet are a small separation at the rear right and a stain (pictured) on the top cover
The radio turns on and seems to tune OK (needle moves, sounds like it's getting different frequencies) but I have not been able to tune in any speaking or music with it. The antenna is supposed to be 18 inches long and it might be unhooked inside or too short, I'm not sure.
The record player will spin if you start it turning manually, the needle seems to be there and the tonearm tracks on the record OK but there is no sound from the record player at all. When spinning the unit makes a ticking sound like it's made a flat spot on a roller somewhere.
The unit powers on fine and the light illuminating the display seems to go quite dim soon after.
The original bakelite buttons are in awesome shape, no chips or cracks and not dirty. The button layout is as follows :
Left side button is ON / OFF / TONE Left button is VOLUME Right button is RADIO / AUX / PHONO Right side button is TUNING
I will be including a copy of the schematic diagram on disk for the new owner
