Description
Okay, this item is pretty cool, but I'm an ethical seller, so I'm going to give the entire story behind this record. I saw a similar Banksy picture disc pop up on eBay last year and, as a pretty avid Banksy record cover collector, I immediately bought it now for $249.99. I was told from the seller in Israel that this was a test pressing from Japan, and that he had several other Banksy test pressing discs as well. I ended up buying a total of eight from him including this one, costing me quite a bit of money. The other 7 are also being listed today.
During subsequent conversations, I came to believe that this seller (who still offers similar picture discs on eBay under various seller names) is producing these himself, or having them made for him. Unlike that seller, I have included an image of the back. This record is unusually thick, and appears to be flex-disc fastened somehow to a slab of plastic or perspex.
I have not played the record, but another buyer claims it sounds like an mp3 file was transferred to the vinyl. The original seller claims that the song is Nirvana's Lithium (Dirty Funker Remix), but I can't confirm it.
The image is not as clear as the original, "Banksy Years" cover image. That being said, it actually looks pretty cool, and I think would look good framed. I don't expect this to go for anywhere near $250, but the seller in Israel is still selling some of his records for more than $200 and getting positive feedback, so who knows.
I do not want to receive negative or neutral feedback on these, so I am laying all the information out there. If you expect an official release or even a bootleg, please skip this item. If you want a rare Banksy cover related item, place a bid at a price that reflects the reality of what this is.
