Description
Up for auction is an extremely rare blues recording. Paramount 12863 by Blind Blake and Charlie Spand.
Fightin' The Jug-Blind Blake Recorded Richmond Indiana, August 17,1929.
Hastings St.-Blind Blake-Charlie Spand Recorded Richmand Indiana June 20, 1929.
The later Paramounts are hard to come by.
Side A is VG-- or G++
Side B is VG- (plays better than side A).
I always find it hard to grade the Paramounts due to the fact that they do not sound even that great in better shape. The labels are nice. There is little shine. Alot of greying. The music does come through. There is noise when played. I have a Stanton STR8-100. It plays fine. Side B is actually a bit clearer. This is the better side. Charlie Spand's piano is heard clearly, the guitar and talking by Blake is great. There are no skips, chips or breaks. This would be nice when a better copy comes along, chances are that will not be for a while.
