Collectors love these 10" LP's because only a few were stamped! (Read below on 10" LP's). Buddy Clark's famous theme song "Linda" is included on this rare 1949 release, along with "It's a Big Wide Wonderful World", "I'll Dance at Your Wedding", "Peg O' My Heart", "Love Somebody", "All By Myself", "How are Things in Clocca Morro" and "Come to Me, Bend to Me". Buddy Clark was a rising star before his tragic airplane death the day before he was to begin a new radio series on October 1, 1949. This album was released later that same year. Orchestras include Mitchell Ayers, George Siravo, and Ray Noble, with duet with Doris Day pm "Love Somebody", which is slightly scratched. The album is in good condition with some visible scratches.
BACKGROUND HISTORY OF 10" LP ALBUMS: Beginning in about 1946 the recording industry "invented" the long-play album using 33-1/3rpm speed rather than 78rpm, in order to put more than one song on each side of the record. To save money, they utilized the old stamping machines which accommodated 10" records, but used the new speed technology. This was an experimental time, as the industry waited for enough people to buy new record players with the 33-1/3 capability, therefore THEY STAMPED A LIMITED SUPPLY OF EACH RELEASE between the years of 1946 and 1955, after which they graduated to the now familiar 12" size to accommodate even more songs per side. This album is one of those rare releases, still in good playing condition and playable on all standard 33-1/3rpm equipment. A super find at a great price!
