Now then, this guitar is on it's own, a one-off, a must for a Clash fan or Joe Strummer fan, what can I say?
This guitar was bought for me by my Mum about 15 years ago. It's a beautiful guitar in it's own right, it's just that a few years ago it ended up on tour with Joe Strummer. My husband Simon played with Joe Strummer in his band Mescaleros, until Joe died in 2002. Check on the official Joe Strummer site http://www.strummersite.com/ for photos and interviews with Simon Stafford. Simon didn't have an acoustic guitar at the time and he asked if he could take mine with him on tour in the summer of 2002 when Joe and the Mescaleros were in America amongst other places. It turned out that this guitar was the chosen one and ended up on the bus being played by the band every night. Joe, Martin, Luke, Scott and Simon all played this guitar over the next few months until it returned home to Sheffield looking a little more punked up than it had when it left. It turned out that it had seen a few bumps and bruises, and now carries the scars of a tour with Joe and his band with a hole in the front, and on the side. Rock'n'roll huh?
I'm afraid that there is no signature, and no photo, though me and Simon have scoured the photo albums for some proof, so I guess you just have to trust the story that this guitar has travelled the world with one of the major influences on modern day music. Any questions, you know where I am....
