Description
1977 was the beginning of a new era for Clemson as a serious football powerhouse. "Death Valley Disco" was a novelty record that was released to capitalize on the excitement surrounding the team and the disco craze. The song was featured bumper music on the Clemson Radio Network Tailgate Show, and it can still be heard today.
Clemson's 8-2-1 record that year propelled them to an invitation to The Gator Bowl. In those days, there were only the four major bowl games, plus eight secondary games (not 40+ games like today), so it was a big deal. A wonderful souvenir from a great year.
