Description

This sale is for a UK First Issue David Bowie album "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", with lyrics insert.
The album formed part of my collection in the 1970s, was bought by me, and has only been owned by me. It has never been on loan to anyone else as I did not really trust others to look after my albums as I did, therefore the vinyl is in exceptionally good visual condition.
I don't like to describe my vinyl albums by use of grading systems or by visual inspection only as I think these methods can sometimes be too varied or convoluted, open to interpretation, and consequently may lead to confusion over the true condition of the album, therefore I prefer to just give my honest opinion of what I have for sale. I always play test my albums from start to finish through good quality headphones, and this is what I base my description on. Close up images of the album and or sleeves have been provided to compliment my description while also bringing attention to any worn areas of the sleeves etc.
I am not an expert on matrix numbers, and any information I give relating to first pressings or first issue etc. is gained entirely from the internet, so please decide for yourself. I always try to give all legible matrix numbers where possible.
VINYL Side 1 - The label is in excellent condition, and the vinyl itself is in first class visual condition. There are no jumps or repeating clicks, however there is some occasional surface noise on the quieter parts that I would describe as being acceptable for a vinyl album of this age that has not been professionally cleaned.
Side 2 - The label is in excellent condition, and the vinyl itself is in first class visual condition. Again there are no jumps or repeating clicks, and as with side one there is some occasional surface noise present.
SLEEVE The outer sleeve is in good condition for its age with no split edges, and showing very minimal storage wear, rubbing, creases and ring wear. The white colour of the spine and paper lyric insert have faded with age, which also has some creases in it but is still in acceptable condition for it's age.
SHIPPING I WILL ONLY SHIP THIS ALBUM TO THE UK. I will ship this album, together with the sleeve and insert in a 12" cardboard LP mailer. To further protect the album it will also be inside a new anti static inner sleeve (see footnotes), bubble wrapped and two cardboard stiffeners applied.
Please note, postage cost is based on the actual Royal Mail charge plus £1.50 packaging costs.

FOOTNOTES HDPE POLYETHYLENE (POLY-LINED ) sleeves have major advantages over paper inner ones as paper can mark the vinyl, also open center holes allow dust to enter. As for the poly inner itself you need to ensure that its not PVC which is produced with artificial softeners that can leach onto the vinyl. HDPE poly-lined sleeves have no softeners at all and have a melting point of 130c, copes well with high humidity and is stable in most heating conditions.
