Description
I don’t usually have or auction much Elvis vinyl because there is just soooooo much of it out there for sale. What Elvis vinyl I have is harder to find in nice condition. Here is a NICE ONE!
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “CHRISTMAS WITH ELVIS” by Elvis Presley
· This is RCA Records EPA – 4340.
· Both the cardboard picture cover and 45 RPM EP 7-inch record are included.
· This is an EP (Extended Play) record with 2 cuts on each side.
· I know that there are several pressings of this EP: 1958, 1965, and 1969. According to my Goldmine Catalog of American Records 1950-1975 (4th edition), this EP is an ORIGINAL 1st PRESSING THAT WAS RELEASED IN 1958.
· The identifying features that make this a 1st pressing are:
o The VINYL has a black RCA Victor label with the dog located at the top of label. In contrast, the 1965 label had the dog located on the left side of the label, not at the top, and the 1969 label is not a black label. It’s orange in color.
o The PICTURE COVER is also a 1st Pressing Cover, because it has the copyright symbol and “Printed in U.S.A.” printed at the lower right corner. The 1965 Picture Cover does NOT have the copyright symbol and “Printed in U.S.A.” in the lower right corner. There was NO Picture Cover issued for the 1969 pressing.
· I have noticed that MANY Elvis EP covers are in really rough condition with split seams, ragged corners, often with a lot of wear on them. That is NOT the case with this item.
· The VINYL is graded NEAR MINT MINUS. The vinyl is nice and shiny with a few very light hairlines/scuffs. To me, this vinyl looks like it was rarely removed from its picture over the years.
· The PICTURE COVER is graded VERY STRONG VG+. The few and minor blemishes are: light wear on 2 corners, a very light crease at top left corner (only on the front that is NOT on the rear), very light wear along part of the opening mostly at the top right corner near the RCA Victor logo, what seems to be a very light nail scuff on his right shoulder extending upwards to the snowy hillside and trees, and what seems to be a small 1-inch nicely repaired seam split on the bottom at the opening. Perhaps I am being TOO critical. Check out the images and see for yourself how NICE this cover is. Don’t let my micro-detailing scare you off! The images REALLY confirm a COVER WITH MINIMAL WEAR.
