Description
Uber rare signed by the late John Paul Keahi [Uncle Moon] and band. 45 appears in excellent condition. I have not test played it. Some info on the late "Uncle Moon".
HONORING THE LATE PAUL "UNCLE MOON" JOHN KEAHI WHEREAS, Paul John Keahi, affectionately known as "Uncle Moon", passed away on June 4, 2005, on Maui, at the age of70; and WHEREAS, Uncle Moon was born in 1935 in Lahaina, Maui, to Jacob Nameaea Keahi ofPuko'o, Moloka'i and Emily Kahikilani Haia Kekai of Kanaha Valley, Lahaina; and WHEREAS, as the youngest of seven children, Uncle Moon was raised in Mala Village, where he lived with his grandparents while attending Sacred Hearts School, and at the young age of 14, began his career with Pioneer Sugar Mill, where he retired as an equipment operator after 47 years of service; and WHEREAS, on October 12, 1956, Uncle Moon married his sweetheart Primrose Kaahanui Velligas of Puukolii, and together they raised nine children and nurtured a legacy of rno 'opuna on a foundation steeped in the tradition of Hawaiian values and culture; and WHEREAS, Uncle Moon was an accomplished musician and his music was complimented by his love for poetry, serenading throughout the islands with such notable musicians as Sol Mahuna and Willie Nakaoka performing as the Ali'i Trio; Gabe Kama, Paul Felicilda, Philibert Secretario and Frank Kahahane as the Lahaina Sons; and Albert and Anna Dizon as the Kanani 0 Ali'i; and WHEREAS, in his later years, Uncle Moon assumed his role as kupuna or Hawaiian elder, with great dignity, communicating an unassuming selfless persona and true Hawaiian spirit enriched by his proud heritage; and WHEREAS, Uncle Moon will be remembered for his community activism serving as a role model for the younger generations of Hawaiians, enriching them in the pride of their culture, and empowering them to support and speak out on behalf of the protection of their community's sense of place, including their inherent rights to land, sovereignty, and self-determination; and
