Description

Here is a very rare and unusual 78 record by Irish tenor JOHN McCORMACK.  Exceptional condition in that it doesn’t look like it has ever been played.

Very thick for a 78, a good 1/8” at least and larger than the usual at l0-l/2”. There is a thicker l/4” edging all around it.  Have never seen that beore.  Label says Columbia Phonograph Co. Genl New York – Societa Italiana Di Fonotipia – Milano.

Label No. A1138 but also stamped in the middle just above the hole in red is the number F119 (have no idea what that means, maybe an import #)

COME BACK TO ERIN/KILLARNEY

Mr. John McCORMACK, Tenor, Ireland

No. 57561.

Even how he is named on the record is odd in that “Mr’ is used.

Record is E+ for its age.  Everything about it looks perfect.  Plays beautifully for its age as well.

(Note:  Any white spots or lines in photo are result of camera flash glare and not any defect.)

E          Shiny with only a few scuffs and/or light scratches;

E-         Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, some scuffs and/or light scratches;

V+        Average condition 78 in which scuffs and scratches have dulled the finish somewhat;

light distortion;

Music and records are our passion, especially 78s, but we have reached an age where we are beginning to downsize. Over the years we have acquired just too many and can't possibly play them all so trying to find good homes for a lot of them as my husband is yelling for me to free up some space for his stuff. They are all in wonderful condition for their age and have been well cared for. It is nice to see that people are beginning to care about preserving their history. Some of ours are 100 years old and that's a lot of history. Cds are nice but you just can't beat listening to music in its original form. Please also note that we are and have always been a pet and smoke free environment. And I will always combine multiple purchases to save you some money on shipping. (NOTE: ALL my records and especially the 78s are very carefully packed to insure safe shipping.) With me your Ebay experience is personal!
