Description
Here's a very rare early saxophone solo record, by a noted saxophonist. Private / Personal 78rpm by Jascha Gurewich. Rare Personal / Private 78rpm on Supreme Quality label - No. 11000 Both titles were composed by Gurewich. Gurewich was known as "The Kreisler Of The Saxophone" Gurewich performed in varying venues from Aeolian Hall to Vaudeville Houses to Symphony Orchestras He was with Sousa's Band in the early 1920's (Sousa hired Gurewich on the spot, during an audition, considering him exceptional) There is a lengthy biography on the internet - The Jascha Gurewich Story, quoting Sousa and others. Rare label Supreme Quality records were Private / Personal records, produced by Electric Recording Labs. (they charged $25 to $35 per master, and provided a mere 12 pressings.) Obviously such records must be exceedingly rare, having been produced in such tiny numbers. Record is in clean E+ condition . . .
