Description

Up for auction is a rarity, 1960's Blue Note 4058, Roll Call, featuring Hank Mobley on tenor, Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. This is a stamped review copy from a collection previously owned by a radio DJ in New York. Record bears the 47 West 63rd NYC address, has deep grooves, and has the RVG and "ear" stamped in the dead wax.

Record Sleeve: front cover is NM with crisp colors and a nice sheen, overall no seam splits, ring wear, dog-earring, back cover is EX, but has some peeling on the very bottom of the label (see pictures), and is stamped "Review Copy" in blue ink by the label, along with an acquisition date of "July 3, 1961" written by the DJ himself and one track timing written alongside the track listing.

Comes with the original Blue Note inner sleeve.

Record: NM, likely only one track played (but perhaps entirely unplayed), no spindle wear visible, stamped review copy on side-1.

I am a university professor of music here in the US who inherited this and other records (Blue Note, Norgran, Impulse!, Columbia, Prestige, Fantasy, Riverside, etc.) from a collector and former radio DJ a few years back. I am looking to sell off some of these records to collectors/audiophiles who can get more enjoyment out of them than I can.

Thanks for looking.
