Vinyl Grading Categories:

M (Mint): Only if sealed.

NM (near Mint): Record is like new – probably played a few times. Exceptional sound quality with very light or no visual signs of use.

NM- (just under near mint): Record in great shape, may have a few very light marks, very low in surface noise to no surface noise.

VG++ (very good plus plus): Almost NM, but may have minimal sleeve scuffing or hairline scratches.

VG+ (very good plus): Scuffing or hairlines, light surface noise, minimal pops, no skips.  Still a worry-free listening experience.

VG (very good): Record has been played, but not abused.  Scratches, scuffs, some popping, no skips.  Surface noise more obvious, but play is reliable.

VG- (very good minus): Record has been played and enjoyed.  It may have been the life of the party once or twice and the turntable operator may have been impaired. The LP will have some scratching and could skip. 

G (good):  Acceptable if you have nothing better or want the cover.
