Description

PRESTIGE RECORDS LP 7116  "FOUR ALTOS"  Very Rare 1st Pressing.  Absolute best sound first pressing we have heard.  Plays clean!
Authentic 1ST PRESSING~"RVG" (stamped in deadwax..both sides) (see 2nd pic). RUDY VAN GELDER Engineering .  Original 1957 Release.  Yellow & Black labels with "446 W. 50TH ST, N.Y.C." address;  address also on back cover. Deep groove.  Thick inflexible original vinyl. 
This hard to find Promo is stamped "PREVIEW" in red on left side of back cover.  See last pic. 
This amazing album features 4 great sax players- PHIL WOODS-GENE QUILL-SAHBIB SHIHAB-HAL STEIN.   Mal Waldron-piano, Tommy Potter-bass, and Louis Hayes-drums. 
Special Note: This album was carefully preserved for many years at THE KENT MEMORIAL JAZZ ARCHIVES LIBRARY in Connecticut, U.S.

Note: The Library's own sticker with its library cataloguing bar code and Library name can be seen in the upper rt hand corner of front cover. Light Library stamper is also present on the middle of each label near spindle hole.

Great glossy NM- / Strong VG++  Vinyl.  (see Play Tested below)
Very Strong VG++....no ringwear...great looking front cover, legible spine, very light edgewear,  one neatly taped top split, 2 rub marks back cover, some spine wear. 
PLAY TESTED:  This great Van Gelder 1st pressing plays better than any first pressings of this album we have ever listen to.  There are no skips, clicks, or loud pops. It plays clean without surface noise.  Bold crisp top quality sound fidelity.   
Next day shipping.  Vinyl and cover separated and placed in a 2 mil poly bag and then into a professional sturdy Lp mailer along with several cardboard inserts providing extra protection for this jazz gem.
