1st Dog Label-Only 282 Copies Pressed. Rare Burt Company Pressing.
Nearer My God To Thee. Haydn Quartet.
May 27 1902. V G condition for age.
History!! A rare recording.. 282 copies made
This recording was pressed by The Burt Company of Millburn New Jersey. If you recognize the name of the Burt Company, it is because it was the company that not only pressed Columbia and some Zonophone records. But they also created the Globe Record Company that manufactured Climax records. For a short period of time the Victor Talking Machine Company had some of its records pressed by the Burt Company. This would stop right away when it was noticed Columbia was advertising stamping Victor records. Once E R Johnson heard that all Victor traffic was stopped.
One can always recognize the records from The Burt Company as they are thicker than average recordings and very Columbia disc record like. Lastly, on the record label under Nipper will be a "B"
TAKE 3.. only 282 records were pressed . A rare pressing indeed..
