Description
Up for auction is a scarce Jazz 78 by The Seven Gallon Jug Band on Columbia label # 2087-D.This 78 featured the legendary Jazz great Clarence Williams on Vocals and on the Jug.Also featured Ed Allen,Frank Robinson and Willie The Lion Smith.The songs are titled Wipe 'Em Off on one side and has What If I Do on the other side.My research tells me this record was recorded on December 6th 1929 in New York,New York and most likely came out sometime in late 1929 or early 1930.The What If I Do side is gorgeous with about 7 extremely light scratches only.It also plays Beautifully on my record player with very light to light static with the treble adjusted all the way on low.Few very light to light ticks.The Wipe 'Em Off side is stunning as well with 5 small extremely light scratches.This side plays nicely also with light static with the treble adjusted down all the way on low.Has a few random light ticks also.I noticed while playing the record has a very slight warp which of course does not affect play as it is so very slight.The grooves do have some wear Please see picture but the 78 is still stunning and Gorgeous.Also has the original Columbia label sleeve which is also in wonderful condition with no splits or tears.It does have 593 written on the back near the upper left corner please see picture.Really is a Beautiful record and they don't come along very often in such nice shape.This also comes with a thicker type sleeve that may be original but probably is not as it has the Brunswick name on it in that when I purchased this record it had the paper Columbia sleeve on the inside of the thicker sleeve.It does say Brunswick Record Stock Envelope on the outside but has the Seven Gallon Jug Band record # and song titles near the top of the thicker sleeve on the front also see picture.I don't know if it's original but I'll send it along with the record just in case.If the buyer is not 100% satisfied I have a return for refund policy on all records I sell.Buyer to pay $6.00 Media rate shipping which includes insurance anywhere in the U.S.Please ask if you want to know shipping prices for Priority and such.
