Description

Please check out my other items as I am listing over 15 classical test records this week, all on auction. For me these are very hard to research so there could be a gem or two amongst them.

This is a very rare test record of

1959 Recording of the opera 'H.M.S. Pinafore', directed by Bridget D'Oyly Carte.

Music by The New Symphony Orchestra Of London conducted by Isidore Godfrey. Performed by the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company with the following cast:
Bill Bobstay: performed by George Cook.
Bob Becket: performed by Eric Wilson-Hyde.
Captain Corcoran: performed by Jeffrey Skitch
Dick Deadeye: performed by Donald Adams.
Hebe: performed by Joyce Wright.
Josephine: performed by Jean Hindmarsh.
Mrs. Cripps (Little Buttercup): performed by Gillian Knight.
Ralph Rackstraw: performed by Thomas Round.
The Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Porter, K.C.B.: performed by John Reed.

I think it is from the original London records version from 1960 as it has OS 25127-8 on the label.

Please use the photo's to research this for yourself as I have no other information apart from what is on the label and the stamped matrix numbers.

There are four, single sided discs contained in 2 inner sleeves. They also come with outer sleeves though they are from the Decca version SKL 4081/2 (some minor wear to outer sleeves)

The blank sides are lightly grooved so there may be a test signal on them. Stamped on the blank side matrix space is " 14" Backing plate"

The vinyl is in excellent+ condition and they all look unplayed, I can only do a visual grading as I have nothing to play them on but they should play like new.
