Title: A Wizard, A True Star TEST PRESSING
Artist: Todd Rundgren
Label: Columbia BR 2133
Condition/Description:
Very rare test pressing of Todd’s 1973 album. This disc is slightly unusual in that Bearsville was distributed by Warner Brothers, who largely did their own tests. Certainly not unheard of, but less heard of.
There really is no cover to speak of. Issued in a generic white, die-cut cover in shrinkwrap. It does come with the label copy sheet which is intact, but has been taped over several times. Top right corner of sheet is missing, and tape is yellowed. There seemed to have been some confusion over what the title of the record was going to be. See photos.
The disc is in pretty nice shape. Not perfect. Light scuffs and light scratches are visible under room light against plenty of beautiful sheen. Under a direct light bulb, you can plainly see many more light scratches on both sides. Absolutely nothing serious, though. Disc plays with some surface noise, but more quietly than you would expect after the bright bulb test. This is because several markings which appear under a bright bulb are clearly BENEATH the grooves, making them undetectable to the stylus.
Very cool piece.
