Description

VG+ Mono 1st Press copy of the Rocky Boyd Quintet’s exceptional 1961 LP Ease It, Jazztime JT-001.  Incredible lineup includes Boyd, Walter Bishop, Jr., Kenny Dorham, Ron Carter, and Pete La Roca. Vinyl features cobalt blue and silver deep groove labels. Cleaned with a Klaudio ultrasonic record cleaner.

Ease It is one of only three titles released by Fred Norsworthy’s important but short-lived Jazztime label, along with Bishop’s Speak Low (JT-002) and Dave Bailey’s Reaching Out (JT-003). Thus it is a very hard record to find—one of the rarest of the early 1960s—and this happens to be a very nice example of it!

Vinyl: VG+. Record mostly plays EX to NM but there are a couple brief points of repetitive clicks. These never last very long, nor are they too loud, but should be mentioned—hence the composite overall grade of VG+. Side A shows one or two visual scratches but otherwise there are only light handling marks, and the grooves are glossy and clean.

Cover: VG-. Cover is structurally sound but has masking tape on two sides from previous owner. Spine strong and spine text fully legible. Some foxing and staining on front and back, and back cover has very light drawing or signature of previous owner in blue ink. Otherwise back text is clear and legible throughout.

LP will come in protective Mobile Fidelity archive-quality sleeve. Cover will come in thick vinyl protective sleeve.

Packed expertly by professional shipping company and mailed within two days of receipt of payment via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number provided. Alternately, LP can be picked up for free locally in San Diego 92037 using safe methods (wearing masks and gloves).
