Up for auction is another one of my coveted Vee Jay Record Company releases of “Songs, Pictures, and Stories Of the Fabulous Beatles" released in July 1964, that has the rare red “stereo” day glo sticker adhered to the gatefold cover denoting the inclusion of the rare vinyl version 2 stereo lp 1092 with “stereo” printed above the spindle hole at the 9 o’clock position. A Monarch pressing with “MR” factory stamped in the trail off areas of the vinyl. Most collectors know the story of this release, including Vee Jay’s rush to fill the cover with the “Introducing the Beatles” left over vinyl, but I won’t go into that story further here…Stereo pressings, however are much rarer than their mono counterparts at arguably 1 stereo pressing for every 10 mono pressings! Study the great photos carefully and judge condition for yourself. Note 4 pieces of scotch tape at: lower, upper, upper middle and middle spine areas. On the back where tape was pulled over, a previous owner blacked the tape pieces. Seam splits are difficult to see but I assume they are present due to paper strains on all seams . Inside cover at spine center, is about a 1” split. Also, on front gatefold is about a 3” hairline cut from top and bottom that you can see in photos. The vinyl is extremely glossy almost like a mirror with great black labels with the block VJ silver lettering. The version 2 vinyl has light scratches on both sides and a more noticeable mark dhiwn in the photo. I have not played it through. Most of the stereo vinyl I have seen for this release is in much worse condition. Includes a very colorful red multi lp pics VJ inner sleeve that has about a 1” seam split on each side. Storage wear where seen in the photos for a 61 year old album. 5 day auction so ask any questions before bidding. Item sold “as is,” so no refunds or returns. No international bidders please, sorry.
