ARTIST: The Scarlets
LABEL: Red Robin 128 (1954)
TITLE: Dear One b/w I've Lost
CONDITION:
Labels: Fairly clean but do have some wear
Record: Has been played heavily as eveidenced on both sides by lots of surface scuffs and marks. Side A also has a few fairly deep scratches. The first half of the side plays VG- w/ background ticks louder than the music.The second half plays VG+ w/ quieter random background ticks and some random background surface noise. Side B has a couple of scratches, not as deep or long as the ones on Side A. The first half of Side B plays a little better VG than the first half of Side A w/ background ticks that are quieter than the music and the second half plays a better VG+ w/ some light background surface noise and some light background ticks. / VPI cleaned
COMMENTS: Rare original Vocal Group classic on Red Robin featuring the legendary vocalist Fred Parris, who also wrote both tracks. The A Side is an excellent ballad. The B Side is also a great ballad w/ cool background guitar and a fine guitar solo.
The Scarlets were a New Haven, Connecticut doo-wop group led by the legendary Fred Parris. The Scarlets formed in 1953, while Parris was still in high school. The group had a local hit with "Dear One" the following year. In 1954, Parris formed the Five Satins with vocalists Al Denby, Ed Martin and Jim Freeman and the rest is history.
NOTE: VPI cleaned means that this record was cleaned on a professional $500 cleaning machine, which does wonders for the playback of all vinyl records!
